Dean of Faculty

Linda (Fisher) VanDuzee

Linda earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Northern State University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Minnesota. She taught elementary and secondary music in Minneapolis and Sydney, Australia. For 16 years, she was employed at the University of Minnesota School of Music, the last nine years of which was spent as the managing director of Ted Mann Concert Hall.

Linda joined Globe University/Minnesota School of Business as associate dean of faculty at the Oakdale (Woodbury) location in May of 2003. In January of 2004, she became dean of faculty at the Shakopee campus, one quarter after it opened. Linda feels privileged to work with the faculty and staff at the Shakopee campus and be a part of the MSB schools.

Linda still loves to listen to and perform music. Free time is spent walking her Miniature Pinscher, reading and cooking.
 

Business Faculty

Rebecca Lloyd

Rebecca earned her undergraduate degree in finance from Brigham Young University. She also has a master’s in business administration from the University of Iowa with an emphasis in finance and marketing.

Before her teaching career, Rebecca spent three years as an investment analyst for Overland Development, Inc., in Salt Lake City, Utah and four years at the Principal Financial Group, a Fortune 500 company based in Des Moines, Iowa.
 
Rebecca started at Minnesota School of Business in the spring of 2008, teaching courses such as Marketing, Investments, Finance, Internet Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Operations Management. Prior to her current position at MSB, she taught for four years at Kent State in Ohio and one year at Columbia College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Rebecca’s interests include long-distance running and eating chocolate (she does the running mostly so that she can eat more chocolate).

Kristine Somerville

Kristine teaches Office I and II, Computer Information Systems and Keyboarding. She graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduating, she was employed by Hewitt Associates in Lincolnshire, IL as a technology set-up analyst. While there, she completed her master’s in business education from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Then she taught high school for three years, receiving an award for “Who’s who among America’s teachers.”

Kristine and her husband moved to St. Paul in the summer of 2005. She first came to Minnesota School of Business in the winter of 2007. She loves teaching and is happy to be at MSB. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Beverly Kile, CPA―Accounting Instructor

Beverly received her BSB in accounting from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. She has her CPA license and has been a QuickBooks Pro Advisor since 2003. Beverly has spent 20 years working in several CPA firms providing individual and corporate tax preparation, reviews and compilations, consulting on financial matters and consulting on QuickBooks software issues. Her favorite classes to teach at MSB-Shakopee are Tax I, Tax II and Accounting Systems.

Beverly’s first career dream was to become a professional bowler.

Joseph W. Traxler―Accounting

Joe is a Chicago native, but has lived in the Twin Cities since 1983. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of Illinois, Chicago. His graduate degree is an MBA in Finance from DePaul University, Chicago. During his MBA program, Joe took core requirements for the MST (Master Science Taxation) program. He has worked personal income tax returns for friends and relatives as well as working with both state and federal income taxes in a professional capacity. Tax work has unintentionally become his unofficial hobby.Joe is a member of the Illinois and Minnesota CPA societies and has passed the Illinois CPA examination with reciprocal membership rights for Minnesota.

Joe follows most sports, from high school to the professional level. He especially enjoys D-3 football in Minnesota and Wisconsin with the MIAC and WIAC rivalry.

Niels Andersen

Niels is a retired Air Force officer and business executive with over 25 years of public and private business experience. Whether leading and managing multi-million dollar organizations to include congressionally mandated policy groups and widely dispersed geographic operations centers, to business consulting and manufacturing start-ups, Niels has experienced every facet of business. His interest in education runs deep, as both parents were high school teachers and he taught flight operations in some of the toughest environments during his time in the Service.

Married to his wife Joni for the past 26 years, Niels has three daughters with the last two in college. Yes, he’s the only male in the house, as even the dog is female! 
 

Health Science Faculty

Bill H. Arbes, PhD

After receiving his doctorate from the University of Iowa in 1971 and post-doctoral training in Colorado, Dr. Arbes has devoted his career to teaching in medical and graduate schools and in providing clinical/consulting services in a variety of mental health service areas. He has held various positions in state and national professional associations; has given numerous presentations and training programs to private, state and professional organizations; has published in refereed journals; and has worked and lived in various countries as a result of consulting and working with various governmental agencies. After failing his attempt at retirement five years ago, he joined the staff at MSB/Shakopee.

Pamela Renkel, CMA, AAS, MLT―Medical Assistant Program Coordinator

Pamela is a certified medical assistant and a medical laboratory technician with an Associate in Applied Science degree. She also is a basic life support CPR instructor for medical personnel. She has worked in the allied healthcare field since 1962 and has been teaching medical assistants and laboratory technicians since 1988.

Pamela enjoys motorcycling, and until recently, taught motorcycle safety during the riding season. She enjoys the outdoors, her dog Sonny, working in the yard, getting away to the north woods. She also spends time with her family, which includes a daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren: two boys under 5 years of age, and a boy and girl in their teens. Pamela’s family get-togethers include her own family, her parents (in their 80’s), her brother and two sisters and all of their families.

Beatrice “Bea” Dehler―Medical Assisting

Bea has been an adjunct instructor at Minnesota School of Business for the last ten years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in the areas of Public Health and Communications Studies. Her areas of expertise are in the medical assistant and medical administrative assistant programs. Bea enjoys teaching Medical Terminology, Healthcare Law and Ethics, Medical Transcription, and Medical Office Procedures I and II. She has also taught at the Blaine and Richfield campuses of Minnesota School of Business.

Holly E. Morss, CVT―Veterinary Technology Department Chair

Holly became a certified veterinary technician (CVT) after graduating from Minnesota School of Business in 2005. After working as a CVT at Woodlake Veterinary Hospital for almost 3 years, she decided to try something new―teaching. Holly began as an adjunct instructor at the MSB-Shakopee during the 2008 summer quarter and fell in love with teaching. Sometimes she misses working in the clinic, but she is excited to be a full-time member of the Shakopee campus.

Holly lives in Long Lake with her husband Eric and Numa, their “little lion,” who is afraid of everything except dogs. In her spare time, Holly enjoys anything that gives her a chance to be outdoors, especially kayaking and backpacking. Holly aspires to live by this quote: “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” (Thoreau)

Kerry Kuhle, DVM―Veterinary Technology

Dr. Kuhle earned her degree in veterinary medicine in 2001 from the University of Minnesota. She specialized in equine medicine in the Twin Cities for five years before she came to teach at Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee. Dr. Kuhle’s interests lay in the fields of equine reproduction and neonatology. She also enjoys the small animal work she is exposed to in her role as instructor, particularly performing surgeries in courses such as Anesthesiology and Surgical Assisting.

Dr. Kuhle gardens, runs and spends time with her husband, Chris, and daughter, Elena.

Virginia Rud―Veterinary Technology

After eleven years in emergency communications, Virginia began a career in animal care.  She earned her associate degree in veterinary technology in 2001 at National American University in South Dakota. During her time there, Virginia was awarded Student of the Quarter, the Dana award for outstanding connection to the human-animal bond, and the Cleo Shultz Memorial Scholarship. In 2001, she presented her independent study in pet loss and client bereavement to the South Dakota State Veterinary Technicians meeting.Since graduation, she has worked in a small animal practice in Rapid City and has worked part-time in large animal medicine as well. In 2003, Virginia moved to the Twin Cities area, and she began teaching at Minnesota School of Business in 2007.

Virginia is currently the Recording Secretary for the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. She is also a certified trainer for Basic Animal Rescue Training (BART), teaching firefighters and other emergency personnel animal rescue and first aid. She has also taught Senior Pet Care in adult community education.

Virginia Lives in Young America, MN, with her mother, three Labrador mixes (Cleo, Zeus and Jedi) and four rats (Maxwell, Mudpie, Lionel and Sly). She is a founding member of her church’s Prayer Shawl Ministry and is a confirmation mentor. Virginia likes to spend her free time reading, knitting and playing with the dogs.

Theresa Starry―Veterinary Technology

After growing up on a small dairy farm in Iowa, Theresa studied at the Medical Institute of Minnesota. She received her associate degree in veterinary technology in 1995. She has worked as a veterinary technician in Eden Prairie, Minnesota in a small animal practice and has five years experience as a practice manager in a small animal clinic in Lakeville, MN. Her experience also includes six years as a coordinator in a veterinary laboratory.

Theresa has been with Minnesota School of Business for five years. In addition to teaching, she is the Associate Director of Career Services in Shakopee. Her favorite classes to teach are Production Animals and Imaging. Theresa also serves as the veterinary technology program coordinator.

Theresa is a member of the Minnesota Associate of Veterinary Technicians (MAVT). She has one daughter, one dog, one cat and three rabbits and is the owner of Starry’s Custom Embroidery & More in Arlington.

Cassie Panning

After graduating from Argosy University with an associate degree in veterinary technologyin January of 2004, Cassie completed an internship at Metropolitan Veterinary Referral Services (MVRS) in Eden Prairie, MN. She continued to work at MVRS for an additional year and a half before moving to general practice. Cassie is currently working full-time at St. Boni Pet Hospital located in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. She has recently been appointed to the position of head technician.

After several years of working as a technician, Cassie decided to explore other options open to a CVT, which led her to teaching evenings at Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee. When she is not working or teaching, Cassie volunteers for a non-profit organization called BART, which teaches fire fighters and other EMS professionals handling and restraint, first aid and CPR for animals. She lives in Hamburg with her two dogs, Penny and Asher, and two cats, Sunni and Destiny.

Legal Science Faculty

Richard Dusterhoft, J.D.―Criminal Justice Instructor

Before entering law school, Richard worked for the Minnesota Department of Corrections as a CO. He also has experience in private security. Since law school, Richard has taught on the subjects of gangs, investigations, firearm crimes and offenses, search and seizure, gunshot residue and sex crimes for police and corrections associations and other groups.

In his time away from teaching legal science at Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee, Richard works for the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office working as a prosecutor and is currently assigned to the Gangs and Guns Unit. He is involved in the prosecution of adult and juvenile cases in gang-related crime. He is responsible for case review and charging, post-charge investigation, pretrial and evidentiary hearings, witness and trial preparation, sentencing and post-conviction appeals and motions.

James Moore

James has earned a bachelor’s degree in geology and a bachelor’s degree in English, as well as a master’s degree in education, all from the University of St. Thomas. He taught in the UST Geology Department for seven years prior to coming to Minnesota School of Business. As an adjunct instructor at MSB-Shakopee, he teaches Earth Science, Environmental Issues and Student Success.

James grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and currently lives in Eagan. His hobbies include officiating high school hockey and soccer as a referee, attending Minnesota Wild hockey games, hiking, rock collecting, bicycling and listening to country music. He is a member of the Geological Society of America (GSA).

Brian R. Geis

Brian majored in business, English and political science at the University of St. Thomas. Later, he attended Hamline University’s School of Law, passed the Minnesota Bar Exam and opened Geis Law Office, P.L.L.C. in Prior Lake, Minnesota. His practice included administrative, business, contract, employment, family, real estate and tort law as well as alternative dispute resolution, criminal defense, estate planning and personal injury, until he closed his office in November of 2008. He still represents clients, but his greatest passion―teaching―prevents him from accepting cases involving lengthy trials.

Brian began teaching at MSB in 2007. He has taught classes such as Administrative Law, Business Law, Contracts, Corporate Business Structures, Criminal Law and Procedure, Ethics for the Law Office, Family Law, Law Office Procedures and Technology, Legal Research, Litigation, Real Estate and Torts. Brian has great esteem for the Globe Education Network family of schools and the education and preparedness it affords students. He particularly enjoys discussing relevant legal experiences within the classroom, teaching actual application and enabling students to flourish in their chosen profession.
 
In 1985, Brian experienced a severe closed-head injury that caused continual memory difficulty and increased test-taking anxiety. As a result, Brian teaches with heightened recognition that course content may be easier for some to grasp and retain than others. Brian compensates for various students’ optimal learning styles by employing instructional methodsthat are most understandable and memorable for each student.

In his free time, Brian enjoys working outdoors and volunteering―judging collegiate mock trials, assisting low-income clients as a volunteer attorney, and visiting patients at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home in St. Paul.
